What is hunger? According to the "Household Food Security in the U.S.," USDA, 2003... HUNGER is "the uneasy or painful sensation caused by a lack of food." Statistics measure hunger by the availability and access to food at all times... recorded as food security and food insecurity.

Over 3.1 million people in Texas don't always know where they will get the groceries or money for their next meal
Approximately 874,000 Texans may suffer from outright hunger
An estimate of almost 1/4 of Texas children (over 1.4 million) live in food insecure households
Texas has the 2nd highest rate of food insecurity in the nation
